A different kind of care

Where emotional healing and spiritual grounding meet.

Faith-based counseling at True Faith means that your spiritual life is welcome in the therapeutic space — never imposed, never required. Just welcomed, if it matters to you.

What this means in practice

What does faith actually mean in a therapy session?

This is the most important question to answer clearly. Faith integration does not mean every session includes prayer, scripture, or religious discussion. It means that if your faith is part of how you understand yourself, your challenges, and your healing — it is welcome here. It will not be dismissed, sidelined, or treated as separate from your mental health.

For some clients, faith integration is central to every session. For others, it comes up occasionally. For others still, it never comes up at all — and that is equally welcomed. The approach is always guided by what you bring, not by a predetermined framework.

The clinical work remains evidence-based throughout. Faith integration is not an alternative to effective therapy — it is an additional dimension of care for those for whom it is meaningful.

What faith integration is

What you can expect when faith is part of the work.

When a client brings their faith into the therapeutic space, Bree works to honor that as part of their whole person — not as a separate track, but as a thread woven through the healing process alongside clinical care.

This might look like exploring how your beliefs shape your understanding of a situation. It might mean drawing on sources of spiritual strength during difficult periods. It is always directed by you.

Core principles
Welcome, not required
Your faith is welcome in this space. It is never a condition of working with Bree, and sessions are not structured around religious content unless you bring it.
Client-directed
Faith integration is guided entirely by what you bring to sessions. Bree follows your lead — never presumes, never prescribes.
Non-judgmental
Whatever your level of faith, the nature of your beliefs, or your relationship with religion — you will be met with respect, not judgment.
Clinically grounded
Faith integration complements the evidence-based clinical work. It does not replace CBT, DBT, EMDR, or any other therapeutic approach.
In Bree’s words

“I felt a clear calling from the Lord to offer faith-based counseling. I wanted to create a space where individuals can care for their mental health while also staying grounded in their relationship with God.”

— Bree Gilbert-Shogelola, LCSW
